Waterton - 2017 Edition

Now with 100% fewer dropped cameras!

While we were in Raymond for Canada Day, we also headed into Waterton National Park for our 2017 Goals - going to all of Alberta's national parks.
Just like last time, we headed to Red Rock Canyon. On the drive there, we actually saw a black bear!
Forgive the blurriness, as we were driving. Ahead of us were a couple of people on mountain bikes, riding and trying to take pictures of the bear at the same time. He was quite interested in them, standing on his hind legs to look at them as they went past. The bikers wisely kept moving and the bear went back to his business, and we went back to ours.
Which was climbing down into the canyon, making our feet go numb, and hiking in the water for about an hour.
By our designated photographer, Calista.
We headed from the entrance down, near a bridge overlooking the canyon, to the next bridge upstream and then back.
At first the kids complained they were cold, because, well, the water is cold. But they toughed it out and we had a lot of fun.
Calista and I slipped at one point and got our bums a bit wet, and Craig got himself wet up to his chest.
It was pretty hot out, though, so it didn't feel too bad.
Craig was quite the little explorer, even discovering a place where the butterflies liked to gather.
At one point, up the canyon, we got Caleb out of the carrier and dipped his toes in the water...
he hated it. But he was pretty happy the rest of the time.
After we got sufficiently wet and hungry, we had a picnic lunch
A whole slice of watermelon to himself!
and dropped by the Cardston Temple.
Kyler did a jumping picture for old time's sake, and Calista joined him.

All in all, a pretty good day!
